In the five years since frontman Ricky Wilson and co were last in Edinburgh performing sold-out show at Usher Hall, Leeds rockers have performance various shows across the country with their most recently shows at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom and Summer Outdoor shows in Inverness and Montrose last year.

This time round ‘Kaiser Chiefs’ are back with their brand new album ‘Duck’ which has had various mixed reviews but has has managed top in the top three on the UK and Scottish album charts since it’s release.

The band was always going battle the struggle to try top off their multi-platinum charting albums ‘Employment’ and ‘Yours Truly, Angry Mob’ which was always going to be struggle.

Despite all that, Kaiser Chiefs fans have always supported the band over the last seventeen years as you can see as Edinburgh show sold-out on a cold January Wednesday evening.

Before the band were on stage, seen support from Skinny Living and nearly hour set from London’s early 00’s rockers ‘Razorlight’ who managed build up the crowd warming up for Kaiser Chiefs who were due on stage.

Original and remaining member and frontman ‘Johnny Borrell’ of ‘Razorlight’ still has it, performing their belter classics such as ‘In The Morning’, ‘Stumble and Fall’, and ‘Golden Touch’. The band were certainly the best openers for Kaiser Chiefs as the Scottish crowd were loving them and the engage and atmosphere was unreal. The band continued to belt more belters which included ‘Carry Yourself’, ‘Vice’, and ‘Rip It Up’. - As band’s hour support set nearly comes to end they still have time treat the Scottish crowd with two massive classics which will leave them in good mood for Kaiser Chiefs due on next. The band finished their set with ‘Somewhere Else’ and ‘America’.

Black curtain rolls down on stage, then lights dim down the curtain then drops which sees the Kaiser Chiefs appear on stage on top of built up building for the first two songs which were Duck’s second single ‘People Know How to Love One Another’ before performing ‘Golden Oldies’ next.

As frontman ‘Ricky Wilson’ and co came down from the building onto the main-stage the band went straight into a Kaiser Chiefs classic ‘Na Na Na Na Naa’ which really got the party started, straight after song first of many pyro and confetti and streamers started going off into the crowd. Straight after this the band tried and tested ground which included a novel game of Hook A Duck for a Kaiser Chiefs classic, which tonight was Kinda Girl You Are.

They continued to give the fans what they wanted performing well known belters like ‘Everything Is Average Nowadays’, ‘The Factory Gates’, ‘Parachute’ and ‘Coming Home’. Although these were main-highlight of the night, Ricky’s fearless dice into the crowd for b-stage seen him take selfies with fans and even crowd-surfed to appear on the b-stage which had massive Street Lamp lighting it up, Ricky appeared on stage for performance of ‘Target Market’.

Although this tour was named after recent album release and new tracks from album were performed the band still managed to staple in more belters like ‘Everyday I Love You Less And Less’, ‘Ruby’, ‘Never Miss A Beat’, and ‘I Predict A Riot’.

The Leeds band ended their performance with ‘The Angry Mob’, before returning on stage for Encore performing ‘Hole in My Soul’ and ‘Oh My God’. Although Kaiser Chiefs are getting older and maybe not producing material from their first two albums, the band still gave energetic performance which fans were delighted with and were in happy mood leaving the venue after the performance.
