THE SNUTS // MOTHERWELL CONCERT HALL, MOTHERWELL
The Snuts returned to Scotland after a stint down south, and the West Lothian boys first night on home turf was in Motherwell, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
★★★★★ (5/5)
Walking on stage greeted by a roar from the punters, lead singer Jack Cochrane announced his usual “wits happenin we’re the fuckin snuts” then jumped straight into All Your Friends, with the distinct baseline ripping through the concert hall. They then jumped into their debut Glasgow, a nostalgic fan favourite. The single was only released 3 years ago and to see how far the boys have come since then is extraordinary, and this is all without even releasing an album.
There wasn’t much chat between songs, as the boys can easily let the tunes do the talking for them. The catchy riffs and meaningful lyrics make for a deadly combo.
New single Maybe California was given a spin, much to the delight of fans. The song gives a feeling that summer may still be here with its playful melody.
In between tunes while the band are getting ready for the next one, something flies onto the stage. “Who’s shoe’s this, you’re going to regret throwing it at me cos i’m never giving it back” Jack joked with the anonymous culprit.
Cochrane was left onstage himself to give a couple acoustic numbers, first up Mixer then a Robbie William cover, Angels of course, which gives the crowd a breather
The party got back into full swing when the rest of the band came back on stage. This band have something special about them, definitely ones to keep an eye on if you haven’t checked them out already.
There are a few more Scottish dates left but they are sold out, no surprises there. I would highly recommend coming to see them if you do get the chance in the future, its a night not to be missed.
