Trash Boat came out with impassioned fury and set Glaswegian fans in a frenzy and leaving them moshing their hearts out.

In light of the 2018 LP release Crown Shyness, Trash Boat were finally able to tour their work across the UK and Europe after numerous successful supporting tours and it was clearly highly anticipated. Crown Shyness was well received by the fans and critics praised it for its emotional depths - something which can be hard for post-hardcore bands to express. The night also featured state side support from Doll Skin, and Capstan; as well as the Scottish group Woes.

The show was thrown near the centre of Glasgow in the student popular set of venues known as The Garage; more specifically in the arty G2 space of the complex. The graffiti-covered, compact, under-belly space provided brilliant sound quality for all the bands of the night and allow for the distinction of all elements of the music.

Support skin doll had come over from Arizona to play on the tour. The pop-punk group were masters of the stage and took full ownership of it. Hearing 'Mark my Words' live is in a whole different ball park to the recorded version. They had a lot of fun with their performance, with politically themed songs they commented on their home-culture, finishing with 'Punch a Nazi in the Face.' They exuded warmth and an alluring charm; they add amazing energy through their performance which takes their tracks’ sound up a level. Singer Sydney Dolezal needs to work on her growling, however.

There was brilliant crowd in for the night. Excitable and enthusiastic, an act couldn’t have asked for better. When Trash Boat bounded on to the stage, the room seemed to explode. They mix a thread of tenderness through their punchy flair that evoked the listeners’ vulnerable side all the while delivering an intensity that hits like right hook.

All five members looked to be wholly giving their all to the delivery of their tracks. Tobi Duncan loomed over his fans belting out his heartfelt vocals, often with the fiercest fury yet then with the softest care. ‘Inside Out,’ ‘Love, Hate, React, Relate,’ and ‘Shade’ stood out from the main set and progressive group’s encore was god-forsakenly crazy.

Trash Boat are growing to new heights with the writing and performance. If they keep throwing shows like that then the future will be bright for these talented lads.
