KYLE FALCONER // QMU, GLASGOW
The View's front man embarks on a few dates to warm him up for forthcoming UK tour
★★★★★
Kyle Falconer is best known as the lead vocalist of Dundee band The View. In July 2018, he released his debut solo album titled 'No Thank You' , which reached number 1 in the Record Store Chart in the week of the release and achieved a top 40 position in the UK Album Chart. Tonights set would see him play a fair chunk of the debut album and a few View classics, just to keep the crowd on the boil. The new material goes down well with the crowd. Opening with ‘Poor Me’, ‘The Therapist’ and ‘Family Tree’ its plain to see everyone knows the words. Great to see Kyle enjoying himself , big smiles from the front man and returned from the sell out Glasgow crowd.
The new album by Falconer sees a fresh approach to his music and a contrast to the usual 100 mph all out attack with The View. He has mellowed, sobered up even, his partner and daughter being the main focus in his life now and this has transferred to his music. Great melodies, song writing from the heart, and tunes which tell a story of Falconer’s battle with his demons. Tonights performance is a clear sign that he has beaten them, for now at least. He is on fire, and the audience are with him every step of the way, lapping it up. A great performance from the Dundee man and his assembled band, an album worthy of a place in anyones collection and a live show worth catching. If you can, of course.
