Opening for the band this evening were the 90's indie rockers Hurricane #1. Led by Alex Lowe on vocals and guitar, they gave the crowd a perfect warm up with belting tracks such as Chain Reaction, Only The Strongest Will Survive, What Do I Know and Step Into My World. The twangy guitars and sharp vocals were well received by the ever increasing crowd, and left them wanting to come off the simmer for the full boil by Embrace when they were due on.

When the lights finally went down and the opening intro for All You Good Good People started, the atmosphere was electric, the band took to the stage, and from the first note played had the crowd on their toes. My Weekness is None Of Your Business, Come Back to What You Know, One Big Family, the tracks from the album kept coming and the crowd were in full voice, sometimes drowning out Danny McNamara on lead vocals.

The iconic 1998 album still sounds great today, so many good tracks which have stood the test of time, and played live this evening sounds terrific in concert. The band are Danny and Richard McNamara on vocals and guitar, Steve Firth on bass, Mickey Dale on keyboards and Mike Heaton on drums and percussion, and they were bang on point throughout the gig. The setlist continued with Last gas, Now Youre Nobody and the 1st part of the set closed with album title track The Good Will Out. After a brief intermission, the band returned for a 5 track encore. Refuges, Follow You Home, Never were played before the bands 2 biggest hitters, the fabulous Gravity followed by Ashes, which had the crowd bouncing off the ceiling!! An amazing sight, and the band were loving the Glasgow audience feedback.

This was one of those evenings that takes you by surprise, and turns out to be so much more than you could initsially imagine. A terrific evening, support act Hurricane #1 as good as ever, and Embrace belting out their old classics still sounding fab. If youre a fan of 1990’s Brit Pop music, this is a show to catch live while you can. You wont be disappointed.
