Arriving at the Barrowland with the famous lights glowing on the road below, you were greeted with large queues of fans arriving early for the sold-out show featuring two remarkable support bands Kawala and Orla Gartland. The large queue weaved its way around the outside of the famous venue with Dodie’s film crew capturing the moment for a forthcoming Dodie DVD. The crowd mostly young female’s wearing the latest Dodie T shirts, were excited and ready to take in every minute of the show. You could feel the energy that was growing, and was shaping up to be a great night in the venue for the fans.

Orla Gartland took to the stage, the venue was three quarters full with the crowd singing along to the music coming through the venues PA system. The lights dimmed and the moment was here for the show to take centre stage. The Irish lass had the crowd in her hand from the first cord. Orla playing a set that packed a punch, and warmed up the Glasgow audience with songs about her life and travels. The Dublin lass has achieved this with a stage performance that had the crowd singing her songs , from her latest single “Why am I like this” to popular songs that had the young crowd looking on in awe from “Between My Teeth”, “I go Crazy” to the Alt pop of “Flatline”. She gave the audience it all, from her energetic performance that would undoubtedly see her go on from strength to strength and one day see her bringing her own show to the famous venue. As she left the stage Orla took a moment to take in what had just happened, and had grasped the moment with a photoshoot of the band and audience to mark the occasion.

Next up was main support from Camden boys Kawala, they had such a big step to take after the amazing set from Orla Gartland. The band formed of childhood friends Jim Higson and Daniel McCarthy playing Alternative Indie pop with outstanding harmonies and African beats that would have pleased Paul Simon. The boys, backed with their band seemed to be enjoying the big stage in Glasgow and playing to the sold-out audience. They encouraged the crowd to clap along to songs and they did not let them down. The young crowd enjoyed the energy from the band that had them dancing in the venue to the catchy beats. The band played through an energetic set featuring “Do it Like You Do”, “I’ve See It All” and “Kept in the Dark”. The highlight from their set was the “Mighty River”, with joyful harmonies and taking you on a journey to a place we all would love to be, the pulsing acoustic guitar with upbeat melody, with the main emphasis on the vocals and lyrics. This is a band worth checking out on their forthcoming tour in May they won’t disappoint.

It was time for Dodie to take to the stage.  It was a first for the Barrowland to see the stage decked out in white everything perfect for her entrance to the venue. The lights dimmed and the noise level grew as the mainly female audience got excited to see their hero. Dodie emerged from the rear of the stage as if she had been beamed down from another planet. Her vocals haunting, hypnotised you in to her set as she emerged from the beam of light to the front of the stage to greet her audience during her “Arms Unfolding” entrance. She seemed overwhelmed by the reaction she received from the Glasgow crowd. Blasting through her set like a swan on water as the audience sang word for word to her catchy heartfelt lyrics and music. Skipping around the stage with her iconic ballet shoes, greeting her fans with eye contact and smiling as she played. Currently on her European tour to promote her EP Human. With vocals of an angel, the emotions from break ups to fun personal moments in the lyrics had her audience grasped on a rollercoaster show. With the guiding light of Dodie Clark in control, her band as the flag ship, she played through her set of emotion with songs from the EP, “Monster”, “Human” along with crowd favourite “6/10” and “Sick of Losing Soul Mates”. She played piano and guitar during her set and encouraging the Glasgow
