SARAH DARLING // ORAN MOR, GLASGOW
Nashsville based singer songwriter Sarah Darling makes a welcome return to Glasgow, to wow her growing fan base.
★★★☆☆
Tonight would see the US country singer’s latest tour kicking off in Glasgow, and what better place to start, before heading on to London, Norwich, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Brighton and finishing in Leeds. With support from Liv Austen, the audience was treated to 2 of the finest new country female singers around.
The Wonderland tour is to showcase new music from her newest work, but would also see her delve into her back catalogue and play some of her better known recordings. The Glasgow audience was in complete silence between tracks, listening to Darling’s comments on the music, and also giving complete respect to the singer, as she played thru a setlist of easy listening, gentle tracks such as Halleys Comet, Where Cowboys Ride and Montmartre.
Darling has a beautiful voice, and her storytelling ability comes across well in her music. Her voice captures the emotion of her work perfectly. Much of the music tonight though seemed to merge into each other, and with too much of a gap between numbers the evening didnt flow as well as it could have. However the songs played this evening were well received by the fans in the audience, old and new, and they showed their appreciation with warm applause.
Theres no doubt Sarah Darling has talent, and is getting her music out there, building a fanbase, but has she got what it takes to stand out from the crowd? Time will tell, but she’s definitely one to watch.
