Yungblud has exploded over the last year, I first saw him in 2018 when he supported Don Broco in Sheffield where only a select few knew his music and since then I have been hooked to his iconic sound. Yungblud aka Dominic Harrison is now in the top 400 most streamed artists on Spotify and has gained a cult following of fans of all ages.

However, starting the night off was Carlie Hanson and her band from America. I have to admit due to traffic I missed the first three songs but for the four I saw I was very impressed with her, she had a large number of fans who were singing and jumping along to her indie/pop sound. The tracks I managed to catch were Only One, Smoke + Skate, Numb and Us. Hanson sounded great and I can guarantee she will be back to Newcastle for her own headline show very soon!

Yungblud has taken the world by storm! Entering the stage with a water bottle in hand and spraying it over the crowd is one way to make an unforgettable entrance. Yungblud and his band wasted no time and began their set with 21st Century Liability. Straight away the crowd erupted into a swirling mosh pit and the floor began to shake from the jumping. It was phenomenal to see.

The madness continued with fan favourites King Charles and Psychotic Kids, and the crowd matched Yungblud’s insane energy with then belting the lyrics while he bounced all over the stage. The jumping stopped briefly with fan favourites Anarchist and Polygraph Eyes off his debut EP. The slower tracks couldn’t of came at a better time with the crowd already exhausted.

Next was a new unreleased track that called Ice Cream Man which immediately the audience loved. After a brief interlude recently released Loner began playing, this track became has become a massive hit. Once over the crowd continued singing the chorus ‘All my friends have deserted again and I don’t want to be a loner’ which sounded great! To finish his set Yungblud and his band finished with Kill Somebody, California and Tiny Pan Boy. Within seconds the crowd erupted chanting ‘one more song, one more song.’ Returning to the stage Yungblud asked the crowd ‘is three more songs alright?’ The last three songs were Die For The Hype, Doctor Doctor and Machine Gun.

I had an incredible time at the show and believe that Yungblud will be selling out the main stage in the O2 Academy very soon. I cannot recommend him enough as you will not be disappointed!
