SEA GIRLS // THE MASH HOUSE, EDINBURGH
The Sea Girls sailed into Edinburgh’s intimate Mash House with a legion of adoring fans ready to be blitzed with a four-piece tidal wave of indie rock, and they weren’t let down.
★★★★☆
Henry, Rory, Andrew and Oli took to the small stage when the lights dimmed, armed and dangerous, and opened with Lost, Too Much Fun and Heavenly War, and the bustling crowd of mainly adoring females were lapping it up.
2 guitars, a bass and a drum kit. Henry Camamile on lead vocals was in fine voice and the band were making a fine noise too, their brand of guitar music going down a storm with the Edinburgh crowd. Songs with real energy and played with much enthusiasm, the crowd sang along with arms in the air and word perfect on every tune.
The setlist continued. Closer, Open Up Your Head, Eat Me Whole and the old Edinburgh venue was absolutely rocking, the barrier at the stage in serious threat of buckling! The audience were really appreciating the music on offer this evening, the front row got a better thrill when Henry joined them on the barrier for an up close and personal solo, that nearly saw some girls pass out!!!
Forever, All I Want To Hear You Say and Call Me Out finished the set, the band leaving for a well-deserved break, also allowing the crowd 5 minutes to get their breath back, before returning for one last track, Adored, and the short visit to Edinburgh was done.
This was a terrific evening of indie rock music and 1st time seeing a band completely new to me. Terrific sounds, melodies, guitars, vocals, terrific energy from the band and the audience, the place was bouncing, you couldn’t hear yourself think, the boom from the bass vibrated up your legs. And it was great. Sea Girls are a band going places, and can be as big as they want. Definitely worth seeing live, you wont be disappointed.
