London based Laurel is touring after the release of her brilliant new album ‘Dog Violet.’

With the tour only just stating Laurel and her band sounded incredible, with a crowd gathering round the stage as soon as doors opened. Before Laurel, local artist Stephen Mordue played a twenty-five-minute acoustic set of original content, which was a nice start to a great night. Touring with Laurel was London’s own Another Sky, who performed a half hour set which featured popular singles “Avalanche” and “Forget Yourself.” With their slow alternative set the crowd seemed to enjoy it.
Laurel seems to have a connection with the audience, I believe this is due to her strong lyrics, her iconic voice and her dynamic sound. Her set kicked off with “All Star” the second song off Dog Violet, up next was “San Francisco” which was first released in 2016 as a single; this was one of the songs I saw the most people singing along to. The third track in the set was “Lovesick” which showcases her ability to write about her life and to convey her emotions.
The band then leave the stage for Laurel to pick up a guitar and start singing “Sun King” and “Empty Kisses.” Before “Sun King” started she announced that “this song is a happy song.” The acoustic break added to the night and made it something really special. After these two tracks the band returned to play “Same Mistakes, Take it back, South Coast and Adored.” After these songs the band disappeared once again, the crowd wanting more began cheering. Instantly the group came back out, announcing that they “weren’t expecting so many people to come and thank you.” Their encore was “Life Worth Living” and “Blue Blood.”
After not knowing what to expect before hand, I had an incredible night. Laurel put on an amazing show, after their set Laurel went to the merchandise table and met the crowd, also singing CDs and Vinyl’s. They are currently touring the rest of the UK and will soon be touring in Europe.
