THE FRATELLIS // KELVINGROVE BANDSTAND, GLASGOW
Taking on the second last night of Glasgow’s Summer Sessions at the bandstand was Red Blood Shoes, and headline act The Fratellis.
★★★★★
The duo that make up Blood Red Shoes took to the stage to warm up the crowd before the much anticipated Fratellis came on. With a punk inspired set, the two were full of energy and put on a fabulous show, with solo drum beats and rocky guitar riffs. The band also have quite a electronic atmosphere to their music, which seemed popular with the crowd.
Then it was time for The Fratellis to come on and face the sold out show at Kelvingrove Bandstand – on a slightly chilly night in true Scottish fashion. Starting off with hit song ‘Henrietta’, the crowd rushed off their seats and to the barrier to dance and sing along, which was a great start to the show and helped warm everyone up.
With the trees lit up behind the stage and lots of colourful lights on stage, both the performance and music aspect were amazing and I have nothing to fault them on. The band were great at showing their appreciation for the fans in the crowd and had a lot of interaction and dancing about too (although that was probably to keep warm).
They also sang the likes of Chelsea Dagger, Whistle For The Choir, and plenty of songs from their new album “In Your Own Sweet Time”.
I highly recommend going to see The Fratellis if you haven’t already, or even going to see them again, as they never fail to brighten your mood and get everybody up and dancing!
