★★★★☆ (4.5/5)

London-based alternative guitar band Island hit up the famous Glasgow venue King Tut's Wah Wah Hut as part of their Spring Tour, and didn’t fail to impress: performing cuts from their debut album Feels Like Air, which is out now via Frenchkiss Records. After some cracking support from Howling Home and Club Kuru - the small yet famous King Tut's venue filled up with excitable fans for the amazing Island headlining the show.

With some sound difficulties at the start involving the drummer and an amp not working - the band pulled it back together and played perfectly not long after the small and quickly solved incident. The band give off similar vibes to bands like The Kooks, as frontman Rollo Doherty has very similar vocals to that of Luke Pritchard. His stage presence was particularly impressive, and got all of the crowd singing along - also giving special appreciation to the couple at the back of the venue who were slow dancing to one of their tunes. Their music is very atmospheric and explosive, with huge hooks, a slight ambience and some very catchy song writing.
