You’d be forgiven for thinking that attendance would be low considering the snowy, sub-zero conditions this evening in Leicester, but a little bit of cold weather wasn’t going to keep this crowd or their beloved five-piece from putting on a show at the Scholar Bar.

The early arrivals were greeted with the sound of The Sunlight Machine, followed by The Rock’n’Roll anthems of The Strawberries. The last of the support acts were local group, Anoa. Hard hitting and full of swagger, these performances were only a sign of things to come.

9:30pm sharpish, Avalanche Party kicked off the set with a slow, gloomy intro. Anyone familiar with their work will have soon realised they were about to be thrown right in at the deep end with arguably the bands biggest track, 'I’m So Wet'. And if you weren’t aware by then, you probably were when lead singer Jordan Bell leaned topless over the stage barrier and proceeded to pour a bottle of water over himself. From the way he looked endlessly through the eyes of everyone in the room, to his impressive (to say the least) stage presence - this guy was not on the same planet as the rest of us.

As the set continued, the intensity from the band heightened. They’d come here to make a name for themselves, and they were doing just that. It only took the first two songs before frontman Jordan hopped over the barrier with his mic stand and in usual fashion, continued to perform the rest of the set in the crowd. He was taking ‘intimate show’ to a new level and everyone was loving it. Not a single word left unsung, not a single note left unplayed, the rest of the band carried on behind, flawlessly - but all eyes were on Jordan…

Showing nothing but unrivalled energy and passion until the last moments confirmed this bunch of lads are on a mission. The set ended with hard hitting 'Solid Gold' and brand new single 'Porcelain'only two of a number of other hits in this bands collection.

The lively frontman was just about sharing sweat with a couple of members of the crowd as they began to scream lyrics at each other, and you could let him off for taking a well deserved lie down in between the final two tracks. He’d given everything tonight, as had the band.

This show was only a small step on their charge through the UK. If you get the chance, you won't want to miss it.
