RAE MORRIS // THE ART SCHOOL, GLASGOW
RAE MORRIS RETURNS TO GLASGOW WITH BRAND NEW MUSIC
★★★★☆
On 16th March singer songwriter Rae Morris took to Glasgow's Art School and gave a simply stunning performance that left the crowd in awe. Morris recently brought out her new album "Someone Out There" on February 2nd which is full of gentle ballads and feel good tunes.
The deep boom of a long synth note welcomed Morris on stage, and started off the night with a song called "reborn" from her new album which got the crowd engaged and already in more in love with her as a person and her music. Morris effortlessly floats about the stage and makes it almost impossible to take your eyes off of her. As she is striding and twirling across the stage she has the friendliest of demeanours, her ecstatic smile contagious. She is eloquent in her lyricism and bursting with unadulterated joy, clearly enjoying performing to the crowd as much as they enjoyed watching and listening to her.
The order of the songs on the night flowed smoothly and had everybody dancing along. Morris also had a backing singer accompany her for some songs, which helped to fill the stage and add more atmosphere to the music. One of the highlights of the incredibly beautiful performance tonight is the stripped-back alternative version of "For You", one of the first songs Morris wrote. She sings solo, whilst playing the piano, the whoops in the tune especially charming, similar to Irish folk music.
