After winning the Breakthrough Artist of the YeaR award in the 2017 Scottish Music Awards; completing a sell-out twelve-date tour across the UK last December as well as touring with the likes of Rag’N’Bone Man and Milky Chance in Europe and America; Lewis Capaldi continues his rise to stardom in 2018.
Capaldi learned to play guitar at the age of nine and began to sing in pubs at the age of twelve, but the now 21-year-old he rose following the release of his first track 'Bruises' in the middle of 2017, which quickly gained 28 million plays on Spotify worldwide making him the fastest ever unsigned artist to reach 25 million plays in the platform. This incredible statistic and his prowess at both performing and songwriting soon earned him a record deal with Virgin and Capitol Records.
The support act was AU/RA - a singer and songwriter from the Caribbean Islands - accompanied with a “one man band” on the tour called Colton. They both performed amazingly on the stage and were so confident with their set. She just recently released a new single called 'Panic Room', a very poignant song about anxiety and self doubt. It isn’t an easy subject, but it’s something that needs to be talked about more so she has a great platform to raise awareness. She was the only support for the night and made sure to sow a great atmosphere in the room before Lewis Capaldi came on stage.
