The 4 piece band from Westmeath, Ireland, took to the stage at The Garage after upgrading venues from King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut due to high demands of tickets from eager fans, desperate to see them.

Kicking off the night was Retro Video Club, an indie rock band from Edinburgh. The band have a similar sound to The Academic which was a good lead up to the main performance, really getting fans in the mood. They showcased some of their hit singles and even previewed their newest single 3AM, which was yet to be released but is now available to stream. The band are playing their first headline shows in December.

The Academic then came on stage and thrilled fans by playing all of their top singles. The band do an amazing job of creating a buzz among the crowd and maintaining it the whole way through their set. In the middle of the set, fans started the iconic Scottish chant which left the band members buzzing and front man, Craig Fitzgerald, openly admitted that the Glasgow crowd were one of the loudest they’d faced.

The band started to wind down their set by playing a cover of ‘Ever Fallen in Love’ by The Buzzcocks followed by fan favourite ‘Bear Claws’ followed by ‘Different’. Ending the show on some of their biggest hits left fans pleased and going home buzzed and on a high.
