THE RASMUS // GLASGOW GARAGE, GLASGOW

FINLAND’S ROCKERS ‘THE RASMUS’ BOUGHT THEIR UK TOUR TO GLASGOW’S GARAGE

★★★☆☆ [3.5/5]

Consisting of Lauri Ylönen (vocals) , Eero Heinonen (bass) , Pauli Rantasalmi (guitar) and Aki Hakala (drums) - Finnish alt-rock band ‘The Rasmus’ brought their Dark Matters tour to Glasgow’s Garage.

Setting the pace for the evening were special guests ‘The Shiver’. The Italian alternative metal band are often recognised for previously touring as support to Papa Roach and Dead Letter Circus throughout Europe. Playing an 8 song set, they appeared well received as many members of the crowd seemed to be fans already.

Filling out both the main floor and balcony of the venue, vocalist Lauri Ylönen opened the set with energetic vibes as he encouraged fans to sing along to one of the band’s popular songs - ‘First Day of My Life’ from their 2003 album ‘Dead Letters’.

The 18 song setlist managed to cover a broad range of songs from The Rasmus’ 24 year career. Spanning their previous 9 albums and showcasing songs from their most recent album - 2017’s Dark Matters - meant that the band had something in store for every fan.

While not often stopping to talk to the crowd, The Rasmus still put on a performance that bode well with the wide age range of fans present. Ylönen’s lively stage presence and continual prompting of the crowd to sing along as he’d point the mic towards them kept a good atmosphere throughout the night.
