Libertines one of Britain’s top Rock indie bands hits our home town Dunfermline playing in one of our biggest music Venues the Alhambra. One of many big bands to play in this Venue over the last few years, this was part of their 2017 UK Tour to play Dunfermline, Inverness and Kilmarnock.

More than just a rock band, to The Libertines’ oldest and most loyal fans this four-piece have always maintained to please the crowds with their amazing talent.

The sell-out gig had more than 2000 people there, all mixed ages the atmosphere was epic.

This was my first time seeing the band as a fan that’s listens to their music it was amazing to get so up close and experience the show.

As the boys came on stage they all cheered to the crowd, there was beer being chucked everywhere, did feel like a pure mosh pit.

The boys all looked the part with punk denim hairstyles and clothes all looking like they had a few before they came on stage they had a massive wall projector with loads of old style videos and cool visual art pieces all throughout with red and blue lighting, was a nice touch and looked great in the background.

The two front men Docherty and Carl did not disappoint they played to the crown they shared the microphone at one point they got that close it was looked like a near kiss. The pair who’s sometimes toxic relationship but always creatively fertile has never been anything other than gripping.

Sunday night’s show proved one thing it’s that their star has anything but waned throughout the years, with a crowd of fresh-faced youths singing along word for word to tracks both old and new.

The story of The Libertines is one of a friendship shattered and rebuilt, of a youth lost in a haze of headlines, hard drugs and hangovers and a punk legacy that inspired a whole generation of British indie bands.

The boys played their best songs from their three albums, including Up the Bracket, Breck Rd. Boys in the Band and Horror also included classics Can’t Stand Me Now, Don’t Look Back Into the Sun, What A Waster and Time for Heroes the Clash-like feel which won over a generation of music fans. Also the dropped in a wee rendition of flower of Scotland for their Scottish fans.

After finishing an amazing set with all the band finished the show by going hand in hand and thanking the crowd. A young topless fan jumped the barrier but instead of having him chucked out frontmen Pete Doherty and Carl Barât hauled him up on stage to join them alongside drummer Gary Powell and bassist John Hassall.

Superb gig and did not disappoint felt like how a Libertines gig should be loud dripping with sweat and full of roaring fans
