Edinburgh’s Usher hall was an amazing place to be on the 31st of May 2017 when Anastacia brought her Ultimate Collection Tour here to Edinburgh for an energetic fun filled night of her greatest hits, new hits and few surprises too.

First surprise (well for me anyway) was that it was all seated but that was in no way what so ever a hindrance to the sensational tracks and acts ahead, if anything it made the sold-out concert very comfortable indeed... not that everybody would remain seated for long of course!!

A dim lit stage spotlights an instrumental sequence featuring her 2 dancers either side of the stage with kettle drums,  before a dazzling light show of neon colours light up the whole venue as Anastacia appears on stage, looking great with her trade mark glasses, dressed casually in denims and a bomber jacket, opening the show and unleashing her powerhouse voice with a  brand new track “ Army of me” (originally sang by Christina Aguilera)  such an empowering  song to kick off the night and one that sums up Anastacia’s past and current situation perfectly .

Faster and faster is the attitude as the pop/rock/soul diva builds the crowds energy with some more well-known tracks such as “paid my dues” and a funky different version of “I’m Not That Kind”

We were introduced to everybody on stage touring with Anastacia including backing vocalist Maria Quintile, Christine and Angela the 2 dancers (who also played violins) and drummer Steve who gave us an awesome drum solo, then there was Murray the guitar genius standing in for Anastacia’s lead guitarist DeeRal Aldridge, who learned ALL of the tracks in just 1 day I was amazed by his talent and impressive guitar solo during yet another powerful rock ballad “You’ll Never Be Alone”

A poignant moment of this night was when Anastacia came down from the stage in beside the audience to reflect on the recent tragic events in Manchester. She spoke of how proud she was of her fans who attended her show and how in the face of adversity we stay unite together in not letting fear stop us living our lives, then while singing she walked around hugging and shaking hands with the people who reached out for her and stopping for the odd selfie with some lucky fans too.

The second half of the show saw Anastacia appear back on the stage dressed in black jeans and Basque type top looking sassy sexy rock chick and surprised us yet again with an excellent cover of the Foo fighters “Best of You” which everybody loved, Anastacia’s voice is truly sensational she has such an unmistakable powerful rock voice that can range to both low and very high note while maintaining her seductive husky undertones.

The shows 1 and a half hour long set  finishes with an encore of “ Left Outside Alone” and “I’m Outta Love”  but not before Anastacia leaving the stage and quickly returning with her singer/dancers all wearing mini Kilts for  the final song “One Day In Your life” which was clearly a firm favourite and perfect Grand finale .
