HONEYBLOOD PLAY EDINBURGH'S LIQUID ROOMS
HONEYBLOOD PERFORM AT EDINBURGH'S LIQUID ROOMS - 23/04/2017

I really didn’t think that Honey Blood could sound anywhere near as huge live as they do on their most recent album but as they played the first chord in to their opener “Justine, Misery Queen “I let out an involuntary “Wow!”.
The duo has a monstrous sound. With both “Stina Tweeddale’s” arsenal of pedals and “Cat Myers” incredibly playing the bass using a sample pad at the same time as drumming they certainly don’t sound like they are just a two piece.
The band played a range of tunes from their first self-titled album and from their most recent release, and quickly got to playing my personal favourite, “Love Is a Disease”. This was my favourite before seeing them and it is even more so now. I spent the entire song just amazed at Cats ability to play the bassline, drum, and sing all at the same time. It was like watching some kind of circus act with someone spinning plates, juggling but with everything on fire. Just ridiculous.
The Liquid Rooms main room was packed, and everyone in the room was singing along to their hearts content. There wasn’t as much movement as I thought there was going to be until the band introduced a dance off for a broken stick. This managed to loosen up the crowd and for the last half of the set people were up on shoulders, mosh pits began and people looked like they were enjoying themselves a lot more.
I’m not usually a fan of the classic “stage patter” but the chemistry between the two was quite charming and you could tell that they were really up for a good time. You couldn’t help but enjoy yourself because of how much they looked like they were enjoying themselves.

Last of all I want to mention the fact that I really loved how down to earth the duo we’re throughout the show. From setting up most of their own gear to not doing the classic rock and roll, leave the stage encore. Even sticking around afterwards to chat to everyone that came along at their merchandise stand. Overall I though the show was amazing and I would definitely recommend trying to get along to one of Honey blood’s other dates on their tour.
