Whilst in the middle of touring with Brighton band The Kooks, the Oasis-esque Australian band DMA’s performed a headline show of their own at Motherwell’s Civic Centre to a room of a thousand people. After the success of their debut album, ‘Hills End’, the band from Sydney have been relentlessly touring around the globe for just over a year and aren’t stopping anytime soon.

They took to the stage in Motherwell to a massive reception from the crowd, who all seemed elated due to the band in front of them. Opening with the slower ‘So We Know’, things really got going as they kicked into ‘Feel Like 37’ and whipped the crowd into a frenzy. As they played through more songs from the debut album, the fans were treated to a couple of new songs during the night, include latest single ‘Dawning’, which can only be described as a refined continuation of what they achieved in the first album, a step in the right direction it seems.

As they calmed things down with their big hit ‘Delete’, the talent the band possessed really shone through as the 3 of them were stood on stage with just some spotlights, an acoustic and electric guitar, and beautiful vocals and harmonies which filled the room. The Scottish crowd all joyously sang every word as they cheered and screamed for the boys on stage.

Coming back on stage to an overwhelming response, the band finished with a new song and the effervescent hit ‘Lay Down’ to cap off an excellent display of a Britpop based sound from the Aussie band. It’s obvious why this band became suddenly so huge here in the UK due to their similarities to bands like Oasis and The Stone Roses, and as lead singer Tommy captioned a photo with from their gig in Edinburgh the night before, it’s only onwards and upwards from here.
