Ahead of the June 28th release of his album ‘Samurai’, Lupe Fiasco has treated his fans to a taste of the record in the form of the title track.
The track ‘Samurai’ presents a lo-fi sound with an undeniable groove that glides on a steady beat. A repeating horn motif props up the melody, bringing a strong hook that demands to be on repeat.
On top of this tight rhythm section, smooth flows accentuate the lyrical content of the verses before the track slides into a lush chorus.
The understated nature of the song proves to be one of its greatest strengths, giving the track lots of breathing room which results in a summer-ready sound.
Lupe has promised that the ‘Samurai’ album will be one of his most personal to date. From this early teaser, the outlook is bright.
